Contests

Contests allow Florida student journalists to showcase their work in a variety of categories such as writing, design, photography, art, broadcast and multimedia journalism. For each contest submission, judges provide comprehensive written feedback to help student’s become better journalists. Premier submissions are recognized as All Florida and Best of the Best.

FALL DIGITAL CONTESTS

Contest Deadline:  September 20, 2024

Held in September, Fall Digital Contests give students an early start at testing their skills, and receive feedback that will help them, and their school media grow throughout the year.

In addition, judges assign a numeric score to each submission (44-50 = All-Florida, 38-43 = Excellent, 25-37 = Honorable Mention). All-Florida submissions will be announced at district workshops and Best of the Best will be announced in the beginning of November, after the final district workshop.

SPRING DIGITAL CONTESTS

Contest Runs: February 2025

Held in February, Spring Digital Contests allow students to showcase the work they have been doing and the skills they have acquired throughout the school year.

Just like they do for the fall contests, judges provide feedback and assign a numeric score to each submission (44-50 = All-Florida, 38-43 = Excellent, 25-37 = Honorable Mention). All-Florida winners will be announced throughout March and April, with the Best of the Best being awarded at the State Convention.

SPRING CONVENTION CONTESTS

Contests Run: April 3, 2025

On the first day of the State Convention, students compete in various quick turn style contests that test their skills to produce under rapidly approaching deadlines. You must be registered and attending Spring Convention to participate.

Submissions will not be ranked as they are in digital contests, but feedback will still be provided. Highest scoring entries will be recognized the final morning of convention.
