Adult Involvement

FSPA recognizes that, in oder to help students in their journey of becoming better journalists, there has to be a strong backing of advisers and industry professionals.

District Directors

Applications for Districts 2, 4, and 6 close October 11, 2024

The board of directors includes one adviser from each of its seven districts, responsible for planing the annual district workshop as well as representing their districts during board meetings to make important decisions that shape the organinzation. Serving two year terms, directors for Districts 1,3,5, and 7 are elected in the fall of odd numbered years, with Districts 2, 4 and 6 happening on even years.

President & Vice President

Applications open February 2025

The President oversees all aspects of the organization as well as runs the State Convention. The Vice President serves in the place of the president when the president is unavailable. Elections for the President and Vice President happen in the Spring of odd numbered years. Once a new President is elected, the previous president still serves not he board as the Past President.

Advisory Board

Industry professionals may serve on the Advisory Board to provide feedback on how the organization is serving its mission on helping to create the next generation of journalists. The advisery board constsist of journalists from different mediums, other media professionals and educators form various Florida Universities. Individuals interested in serving on the FSPA Advisory Board should contact FSPA Executive Director, Adam Livesay.

District Workshop Sponsorships now available

Interested in supporting scholastic journalism, while also getting your message out to thousands of students and their advisers? Consider sponsoring a District Workshop or the Spring Convention. Sponsorships help the organization keep costs low so more students can benefit from attending these events.

Affiliate Membership

Not an adviser of a student media program or don’t have a business to promote, but want to show your support for Student Journalists and FSPA all year long? Become an affiliate member. Membership includes access to Member’s Only emails, use of the official FSPA Supporter logo, optional recognition on the FSPA website as a supporter of FSPA and student Journalists, and more.
